Charles Leadbeater invented the term “we-think” to describe how the advance of the Internet and the improvements in inforation technology has allowed collective thinking and creativity to become a shared process, rather than being the preserve of scientists behind closed and guarded doors or of the artists working alone or with people with similar views and interests.

There is an underlying assumption that the growth in the internet and its almost universal usage around the globe is a good thing. This is certainly true.

He speaks the unspeakable by inviting the reader of his book “We-think” (Publisher …., ref) to consider whether the best-known result of we-think principles – Wikipedia – is “crap”.  His most vivid example of how we-think can work and how good communities are at self-policing is the one of people on a public beach.  He then contrasts rather unfairly what might happen if Microsoft took over the beach …
